Product Ownership is a lifelong journey. Using Scrum values and Agile principles to develop world class products takes diligence, testing and agility. Your goal is a continuous improvement of the product that leads to success as defined by your goals.

To further enhance your knowledge and skills, the next step is achieving an Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner® (A-CSPO®) certification from Scrum Alliance®. 3Back’s advanced offering is ideal for a Certified Scrum Product Owner who has one or more years of work experience in that role.

Through the A-CSPO course you will learn:

  • Product Ownership
  • Working with Stakeholders
  • Advanced Purpose and Strategy
  • Empathizing with Customers and Users
  • Advanced Product Assumption Validation
  • Advanced Techniques For Working With The Product Backlog

Our Advanced courses consist of the student taking an e-learning course to learn and verify the course’s Learning Objectives, along with attending four 1-Hour office hour sessions with the instructor. If you want to read an explanation of why we do it this way, go here.

A-CSPO Certification Reviews

Great value, and great content!

Jonathan A.

Dan knows what he's talking about! I came into this class thinking I was ahead of the game, and he proved me wrong! I learned so much and there's no doubt it will have a positive impact on our business. Can't recommend 3Back enough. Great value, and great content!

I highly recommend 3Back to anyone

Christopher L.

I've taken courses through 3Back in the past and returned to take additional courses because I loved the instructors, content and convenience. With the pandemic, it has become critical to be able to take courses remotely. The remote Zoom-led courses were still very interactive, and the instructors ran the course very well.

Excellent Facilitator

Abel M.

Doug Shimp was an excellent facilitator empowering us to take charge of our break out teams. Giving us the opportunity to have hands on while learning and expanding our knowledge base.

Money Well Spent!

Christel E.

Money well spent! Dan is a great facilitator/instructor. I especially appreciated how he uses real world examples to illustrate the points in the class, it made it really easy to grasp the concepts.

Learned A Great Deal

Scott K.

I learned a great deal from Doug and the structure he established was beneficial in my learning of the Product Owner role.

CST, Senior Agility Instructor

Doug Shimp

As an entrepreneur at a young age, Doug Shimp was practicing agile before he knew the meaning of the word. Leading a business required extreme teamwork, rapid feedback loops, and daily stand-ups to get the job done to stakeholder specifications on time and under budget. Doug learned the value of the Scrum framework from the ground up. Fortune 50 companies, small start-ups, and every business in between have reaped the benefits of face time with Doug. His robust, hands-on training creates momentum for teams to apply Scrum to their real world of work.

  • What are the prerequisites for the A-CSPO course?

You need 12 months of professional experience as a Scrum Product Owner during the last five years and a Certified Scrum product Owner (CSPO) certification.

  • What is On-Demand?

On-Demand is a blended approach of both instructor-led and independent, self-paced learning. As a learner, you can find your own rhythm and you choose how fast you go. You have up to 3 months to complete the course. (see our policy page for details).

The typical Module includes 20-60 minutes of reading (depending on your reading speed), and a multiple-choice quiz. After you complete these, you need to work with 1-2 StudyBuddies to discuss the module/quiz and do one or more scenario-based exercises. Each module will take about 1-3 hours of your time, and will require you to work with StudyBuddies (either someone in the course or outside of the course).

  • Is there a test after the class?

No, there is no test after the A-CSPO course. As along as you meet the pre-requisites and have successfully completed the course, you will be certified.

  • What are the requirements to finish my On-Demand A-CSPO certification?

Complete 13 Self-Paced Modules with one or more StudyBuddies. Attend 4 One-Hour Open Discussion with the trainers.

  • How long does it take to finish the course?

You have up to 3 months to complete the course. The average completion time is 2-4 weeks.

Fastest On-Demand: A fast pace would be two weeks for completion. You need to attend four Open Discussion Hours, and we are each planning to have two available per week.

Quick On-Demand: If you want to be quick, it makes sense to do it in a month. Do 3-4 modules a week, and attend an Open Discussion Hour each week.

Minimum On-Demand: We expect you to be finished within 3 months of starting.

  • What is required for the A-CSPO certification renewal in 2 years?

30 SEUs need to be completed in 2 years time and payment fee of $175 to the Scrum Alliance must be made, before the A-CSPO license can be renewed. See the links for more information on Claiming SEUs and you can use 3Back Resources to read our publications and receive SEUs under Category E.

  • Can I get PDUs and SEUs for this class? How many?

Yes, you will receive 14 Category B PDUs upon completion of the course. As a Registered Education Provider for the Scrum Alliance, our A-CSPO course is worth 14 SEUs as well.

  • I completed the A-CSPO course, but my certification is not showing up on my Scrum Alliance Account. Why?

You need to make sure you update your Scrum Alliance profile with your work experience and have a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification. In addition to needing a CSPO certification, you need at least 12 months of professional experience as a Scrum Product Owner during the last five years.
